This large, open campground in Kenilworth is nestled in the Upper Mary River Valley in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. It would make a perfect base to set off from daily to explore all that the region has to offer. The town is on the Mary River which offers opportunities to swim, kayak and fish all year round. A few minutes drive and you can be in some of the prettiest National Parks in Queensland..

The pet-friendly campground offers plenty of powered and un-powered sites that are suitable for everything from tents through to big rigs. You may, depending on site availability, need to bring longer cords and hoses with you for access to water and power. Sites are large and level, many with a view over the creek that runs through part of the campground. There are limited shady sites but plenty of sun for those with solar. Being primarily a showground, the facilities are simple but nevertheless adequate for a comfortable stay, with toilets and hot showers ($1 coins only) onsite and a laundromat opposite the grounds if you need to catch up on the washing. Two dump points are on site with the one behind the hall being a Public Dump Point.

A dining room, full functioning kitchen and hall facilities is available for hire by clubs and groups camping within the showground.

The caretakers live onsite, and the phone is answered from 7am to 6pm, 7 days a week. If a problem arises after hours, call the caretakers and they will return your call. It is advisable to ring and check on any upcoming events and the availability of sites.

Kenilworth’s main street and shops retain the 1930’s look and feel, with many wide verandas sheltering the footpaths from the sometimes inclement Queensland weather. The local bakery is a favourite stop, as is the renowned cheese factory, which also produces excellent yogurts and other dairy delights. The local Historical Museum shares the story of the development of the town and surrounds. Each Easter, Kenilworth hosts a Cheese Festival but book early for a camp spot!

The region also has a number of wineries to explore and the Sunshine Coast, with its beaches and attractions, is an easy drive away.

WARNING – it is not advisable to park near the main ring in Cricket Season (October to April).
