Set up your self-sufficient camp, whether its a tent, campervan or motorhome, and stroll to the river. The cool deep waterhole and small rapids on the Gregory River are too enticing to ignore.
Sit by the river’s edge with binoculars in hand and watch the spectacular variety of birds darting down from the treetops to the water for a drink. Look among the treetops surrounding the waterhole to spot the whistling kite’s nest.
When you tire of relaxing, drive to nearby Riversleigh D Site and explore the fascinating Riversleigh fossil trail.
Sleep under a star-studded sky and emerge with the dawn to watch wildlife venturing to the river’s edge for the start of a new day.
