Community Church Campground Coomalie Creek (CG)

The Community Church Campsite is an outreach ministry of the Darwin Community Church. It is a beautiful place located some 80 km’s from Darwin and 10 km’s from the town of Batchelor. Camping is encouraged during the dry season which is May through to October. The site offers Caravan, Camping and Dormitory Style Accommodation. This campsite is available for Weddings, School and Club Camps and works on a first in first served basis so it is essential you book as they may be full with an organised camp.

Powered and unpowered shady grassed sites are suitable for tents, camper trailers, caravans and motorhomes and there is no time limit on your stay. There are some modern amenities on site while still retaining a do it yourself approach to camping. A modern amenities block including toilets and hot showers, a brand new disabled shower and toilet, a communal double gas oven, filtered water for drinking, undercover table and chairs, a small childrens playground and a chill room are all available for campers to use.

Warm and welcoming caretakers are always on site for any enquiries you may have.
As the dry season is great time for camping in NT, why not enjoy the cool night air and camp out under the stars. A great place to sit back and relax or if you want to keep active there are plenty close by to keep you busy. You choose, the list is endless, rain forests, swimming, canoeing, fishing and hiking are just a few things to do locally. There are two swimming holes close by but the creek does not belong to campsite so it is open to the public. You need to provide your own lifesaver for swimming and water sessions.

Please Note: The creek is surveyed for crocodiles before the dry season but no guarantees can be given in writing – do so at your own discretion.

For camps and large group bookings, the camp have some old Sydney William Huts for dormitory style accommodation.

HOW TO GET THERE
Turn off the Stuart Highway for Batchelor Road (Route 30) after 800m turn left before the railway line, or look for the blue sign that states Community Church Campsite, turn left into the driveway.

Drive approx 500m to the campsite and see caretakers..

FEES & BOOKING
Bookings are Essential
Fee is from $15/night per person.
Children under 5 are free.
Group Bookings of 50 or more $10/night per person.
Fee is from $20/night for unpowered caravan sites and from $26/night for powered caravan sites.

RULES
All camps are asked to provide daily numbers to the caretakers for accurate invoicing.

THINGS TO DO
Take a day trip out to Litchfield National Park that is home to the Buley Rock Hole, Wangi Falls and Florence Falls, tours are available locally.
You could take a stroll around the Batchelor Museum or head out to look at the World War II Aircraft Gun Battery Site.  Maybe just head off for a cool drink or a tasty meal at the Rum Jungle Tavern or Digger’s Bistro.
