Flanagan’s Reserve Camping Ground is located on the upper reaches of the Logan River. It is a family-friendly 12-hectare camping ground and an excellent spot for swimming and fishing for the whole family with tents, camper trailers, caravans, motorhomes and big rigs all welcome.
The ground at the reserve is relatively flat, with heaps of beautiful gum trees and plenty of shade. The sites are spacious and open campfires are permitted in fire drums provided, (subject to fire bans). There are no powered campsites but generators are permitted at set times.
The toilets and showers are located at the amenities block just across from the kiosk, minimalist but clean and well maintained. There are 3 showers (costing 20c per minute) that can get quite busy at peak times, but this can be avoided if you shower outside of these times. Management brings in port-a-loos if the camp is bustling. There is also a disabled-friendly unisex toilet block. The park does ask campers to keep it fair and to save water, so try to keep your showers no longer than 2 minutes per person. Pets are also welcome at the Reserve.
The Kiosk is open for most of the day should you have any inquiries or wish to grab a snack or Ice. Firewood is also available at a cost. Cash and EFTPOS are accepted.
The natural bush setting makes this a peaceful family-oriented spot. The Logan River offers fantastic bass and mullet fishing and there is an assortment of wildlife including turtles, lorikeets and kookaburras. Mt Maroon looms over the site and the surrounding foothills are part of World Heritage-listed Mt Barney National Park.
