Camp near the Chapman River.

Fig Tree Crossing Campground is a large drive-through rest area located adjacent to the Chapman River along Chapman Valley Road. The site has many tall trees providing shade to visitors. The area is accessible by caravans and big rigs with a maximum of 24-hour stay. The campsite offers basic amenities including public ablutions, BBQ, and several shaded seating areas.

HOW TO GET THERE
From the north, turn left off the North West Coastal Highway 2.3 kilometres south of Northampton (Steven Street) onto Nabawa Road. Travel 23 kilometres to the tiny village of Nabawa then continue south along Chapman Valley Road for another 20 kilometres. The rest area is on the right just before the Chapman River.

From the south, turn right off the North West Coastal Highway, 7 kilometres north of Geraldton onto Chapman Valley Road. Travel 12 kilometres and the rest area is on the northern side of the Chapman River and on the western side of the road.

Wildflowers – As the Chapman Valley Shire covers a vast area there is a huge diversity in wildflower species during wildflower season [between the end of August and the beginning of September]

Moresby Ranges – The Moresby Ranges is an ancient landscape feature, formed some 50 million years ago and their unique shape makes for interesting viewing. A fantastic view of the ranges can be seen from Mills Lookout on Chapman Valley Road.

Chapman Valley Museum – Located in the heart of the Nanson Hamlet the Chapman Valley Museum is a treasure even visiting anthropologists cannot resist. t the Chapman Valley Museum, you’ll be surprised by what you’ll discover. Open Wednesday’s 9am until 12pm and Sundays 1pm until 4pm.

Historic Churches
Chapman Valley is also home to some beautiful historic Churches, including one designed by Monsignor Hawes, which is featured in a Monsignor Hawes trails guide.
