Fisherman’s Rest – Mitchell (FC)

Located just 5.5km West of Mitchell is this beautiful spot right along the banks of the Maranoa River. It hosts a range of campsites with some flat areas toward the top, with a narrow track then leading to sites closer to the river.
The track in is firm, but slightly undulating. Most caravans and large motorhomes can access it OK, but Big Rigs would be well worth walking the track first to ensure they can fit in. There are also some soft parts to the track, and the area leading right to the river’s edge can be a bit steep.
Well worth the effort however as there are some magic sites right up to the water’s edge. There is also a boat ramp at this location.
This is a free campsite, so you are encouraged to keep it clean and please support the local town.

ACCESS
Access is down Fallow Lane which runs off the Warego Highway, the turn off is sign posted by an old wooden sign and can be a bit tricky to see. It is approx. 5 km West of Mitchell. There is a large truck parking bay nearby that you can use as a reference point. If travelling from Mitchell the entrance is to your right, just past the truck stop, if travelling towards Mitchell it’s on your left and if you see the Truck stop you have gone too far.

FACILITIES
Basic facilities consisting of one drop toilet, a small shelter and waste bins. Best suited to those that are self-sufficient.

THINGS TO DO
Mitchell is nearby and is a well serviced town with cafes, pubs and services. It features hot artesian springs. There is also a river walk from this campsite to Neil Turner Weir and then into town.
