Neil Turner Weir – Mitchell (FC)

This is a very popular camping stop right on the banks of the Maranoa River. The campsites are spread over a long flat area for several hundred meters, with some sites right along the water’s edge. There are a combination of shaded sites and those in full sun ideal for solar.
The river is available for fishing and there is also a boat ramp. The weir wall is a feature of this site and opposite the weir wall is a large flat concrete slab for those seeking a perfectly level spot to park. This is a very popular camp spot only 3.5km out from town and gets filled very quickly on most days. Pets are permitted.

ACCESS
Access is either through the town of Mitchell, via Alice Street, then onto River Street.
Or, directly off the Warrego Highway, about 2km west of Mitchell. The road is well signposted and the camping area starts on your left a few hundred meters in where River Street starts.

FACILITIES
Limited to Toilets with no showers. There are some taps scattered throughout the area for water, BBQ & Picnic Table with Shelters and waste bins. Concrete boat ramp.

THINGS TO DO
Mitchell is a well serviced town with cafes, pubs and services. It features hot artesian springs. There is also a river walk from the Weir back into town, or further West to Fisherman’s Rest which is another campground.
