Ashton Hotel – Long Pocket (CG)

Amidst cane fields and mountains, the Ashton Hotel at Long Pocket is a great country hotel with a spacious and grassy area at the rear of their pub suitable for camping. You’ll definitely enjoy your stay as it is a peaceful place with views of the mountains. Their counter meals make the hotel a great place to visit. Ice, milk, takeaways and drinks are also available. HOW TO GET THERE
It is located 23 km from Ingham. Head north on National Highway A1, turn left onto Lannercost Street (signs for Abergowrie/Wallaman Falls), continue onto Fairford Road/Ingham-Abergowrie Road and turn right onto Long Pocket Road. The Hotel is on the right.

SITE ACCESS
Upon turning right onto Long Pocket Road, you’ll see a road that leads to Ashton Hotel. Entrance is on the right side where you’ll see a grassy campground with beautiful views of the mountain.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping is $5/night. Extra fee for use of the toilets on the hotel.

THINGS TO DO
This site is close to Broadwater National Park, the Dalrymple Gap Walking Track and the Wet Tropics Great Walks. Day trippers and campers can enjoy a scenic drive around the Herbert River loop road or take a cool dip at Broadwater Creek. For those doing the Wet Tropics Great Walks the Ashton is close to the Henrietta gate pick up point.  They welcome those that would like to refresh with a hot shower and a cold beer.
