Camp along the banks of the Oakey Creek.
Bowenville reserve is a huge reserve set aside on the banks of the Oakey Creek, only 5km from the small village of Bowenville. The area is all grassed, well maintained with great outlooks and plenty of space to spread out for all-size rigs. The whole site is quite level but can become a bit boggy in some areas after heavy rain. It has a good mixture of shaded sites and sites in full sun. The creek borders the bottom edge of the site and whilst it is narrow, it is deep enough to throw in a line. There is a boat ramp but it is very steep. It is a great place to relax and do nothing or meet up for group camping. There is a maximum stay of 7 nights and Pets are OK. According to the locals can get very busy on weekends.
SITE ACCESS
Turn off the Warrego Highway just south of Bowenville into Bowenville-Norwin Road and follow it for approximately 4km where you will see the entrance on your left-hand side. The entrance is wide and easy to drive into.
