Junction City Hotel (CG)

Well known for its good food and great atmosphere, the Junction City Hotel is the entrance to the town. Why not drop in and have a beer with the Grogfather or take a scenic ride on a three wheeler to see the sites of Burren?

All are welcome at the pub for a beer even the kids can enjoy the “Kids Game Room”.

There are 4 powered sites and 5 unpowered sites at the side of the pub on level gravel pad. Water is also available. The pub also has a full range of accommodation, including self-contained cabins for short or long terms. There is a separate amenities block for the campers.

The hotel also offers a full range of meals at the Bistro and bands on weekends and some special occasions.

Burren Junction is a New South Wales village 51 km west of Wee Waa, on the Kamilaroi Highway to Walgett. The name is from the local Aboriginal word for boomerang or ‘big creek’. Burren Junction grew from a railway encampment which came from the extension of the north-western rail line in 1902. Burren Junction Post Office opened on 16 May 1904.

Burren Junction is in the Walgett Shire local government area and Jamison County. The village sits at an elevation of 163 metres and has a population of 130. Wheat and cotton growing is the main agricultural industry along with some sheep and beef cattle breeding.
The town has two churches, a general store, which sells fuel, R.S.L. and Sporting Club, sports ground, plus a hotel.

A Bachelor and Spinster Ball is held each year in Burren Junction, with people travelling from all over Australia to enjoy a night of fun and entertainment.

Also near town are the Burren Bores, first sunk in 1921 the bore offers a great relaxing experience in the hot artesian water for all those tired and arthritic bones.
