Sandy Hollow Tourist Park is perfectly positioned on the Golden Highway, west of Muswellbrook on the way out to Dubbo. It is nestled beneath the dramatic, wooded sandstone hills of Giant’s Leap which can be accessed via the back gate. It is a picturesque, country park, in the beautiful village of Sandy Hollow.
Set within 20 tranquil acres of gardens and natural bush, Sandy Hollow features a wide range of accommodation options including powered sites or drive-thru powered campsites for your caravan, motorhome, RV or tent. Should you wish to have a break from the van and stretch out, or if you are looking to meet up with family or friends who might not have a caravan, there are also superior air-conditioned cottages and cabins or motel units in peaceful surrounds with all the modern conveniences of home available.
The park prides itself on providing a full range of facilities as indicated below, including a large swimming pool and children’s wading pool and plenty of space for the kids to play. They have some beautiful grassy recreational areas and their own small tourist information desk with well-informed Staff. Pets are permitted at manager’s discretion, check first.
Sandy Hollow Tourist Park is a great place to stay to explore the Goulburn River and Wollemi National Parks, wineries, local farms and villages, or for cycling, bushwalking or touring the wider region of the Upper Hunter. See reception for tour information.
ACCOMMODATION
The Yengo Cottage – Sleeps 6 and is great for a family or large group of friends with a large veranda and BBQ available. The park also has a range of Cottages and Park Cabins that sleep from 2 – 4 people and are either situated in a quiet location with fantastic views to the hills or with a lovely outlook across the park to the hills. New king and queen size en-suite motels rooms that sleep 2 people are also available.
HOW TO GET THERE
Sandy Hollow is located right in the Golden Highway which stretches from Denman to Dunedoo. The park entrance is directly off the highway and adjacent to the service station.
SITE ACCESS
The Park is next door to Shell Service Station, turn off Golden Highway at the park entrance sign, Reception is 50 metres on the left. Ample parking for all cabins, cottages and motel units. There is also free off-street parking for big trucks in front of the park.

THINGS TO DO
Aside from enjoying the park offers, it also has other great attractions and activities to do.
Goulburn River and Wollemi National Parks – These nearby parks have picnic facilities, toilets and informative walks with some breathtaking views. They are renowned for their wilderness and vast array of fauna.
Bicentennial National Trail – This is a non-vehicular 5330km marked trail along the Great Dividing Range stretching from Cooktown in northern Queensland, to Healesville in Victoria. Great for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
Other Bushwalking – There are walks out of the Park’s back gate, which can take you all the way to the top of Giant’s Leap. You will be rewarded with exhilarating views across farmland and vineyards in one direction and a green wilderness on the other.
Wineries – Sandy Hollow is central to the wonderful wineries on the Upper Hunter Wine Trail many of which have intimate cellar doors. James Estate, Yarraman Estate, Two Rivers and Cruickshank Callatoota are among these.
Horse Studs – We are in Horse Stud Country. These include Widden, Patinack, Woodlands and Darley Studs. Tours are available through a tour operator.
Scenic Drives – a fantastic 150km circular drive tour that starts at Sandy Hollow. It takes you past horse studs, through spectacular scenery and gives you the opportunity to do some wine tasting, explore the National Parks and tour a country town.
Cycling – a favored location for cyclists with our beautiful scenery and quiet country roads. Once here, we can point you to trails that have been put together by the Newcastle Cycleways Movement.
