Gheerulla camping area offers compact bush setting next to Gheerulla Creek. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for accessing the Gheerulla camping area.
Number of sites: Three numbered sites. Each site has a maximum capacity of six people.
Campsites are suitable for: Tent camping beside your car or camper trailer. Caravans are not recommended because of limited turn-around area.
Campsite surface: Dirt.
SITE ACCESS
From the Bruce Highway take the Eumundi-Kenilworth Road and travel 24 km to the Sam Kelly Road junction, turn left into this road and continue 2 km to the camping area.
This gravel road becomes narrow and has been flood damaged. The 58 km Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk route passes through Mapleton National Park and includes two walkers’ camps in this park.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Book in advance for all weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Bookings can be made up to 12 months in advance.
Fees for camping permits are:
$5.75 per person per night or $23.00 per family group per night.
$3.20 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
