Princess Hills camping area two separate and shady sites beside the Herbert River. Sites are approximately 15m x 15m in size and about 1km apart. Closed throughout the wet season every year from 1 December to 31 March inclusive-roads into and on the park become impassable for extended periods and are closed to public access. These dates may vary depending on weather and road conditions and closures may also occur after heavy rain.The camping area can be reached by 4WD only. It is accessible for off-road caravans and camper trailers.
Boat access: no access provided but canoes and kayaks can be launched from the bank.
Number of sites: two numbered sites. A maximum of 12 and a minimum of four people are permitted per site.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car: off-road caravans and camper trailers.
Camp site surface: grass.
SITE ACCESS
The camp site is on the southern bank of the Herbert River, about 4km from the top of the Herbert River Falls.
Wallaman Falls is 51km south-west of Ingham, about a 1hr drive through rural properties. Travel west from Ingham along Abergowrie Road to Trebonne. From here the route is well signposted. While part of the road is unsealed it can still be accessed using a conventional vehicle. Care is required on the range, which is slippery when wet. Towing caravans is not recommended.
Yamanie pick-up point
The Yamanie pick-up point is 60km from Ingham, about a 45min drive through rural properties. Travel west from Ingham along Abergowrie Road. At the end of the road you will find a gate – the entrance to Girringun National Park. Please close the gate behind you. Beyond the gate 4WDs are recommended.
Henrietta gate pick-up point
Travel west about 24km from Ingham along Abergowrie Road. Take the second turn left, past the Ashton Hotel, onto Sheahans Road. From here the road is well signposted. Please leave all gates as you find them.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Permits must be pre-booked and it advisable to book well in advance for school holidays and long weekends. Book up to 12 months in advance.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.
