Poverty Point camping area – Great Sandy National Park (CG)

Poverty Point camping area offers small, undeveloped coastal camping overlooking the tranquil, tidal waters of the Tin Can Inlet. The camping area can be accessed by 4WDs only via Poverty Point Road off Rainbow Beach. Vehicle permits are not required to access this camping area.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites.
Maximum capacity of 24 people.
Suitable for: Tent camping beside a car, and off-road camper trailers with high clearance.
Surface: Sand and/or grass

SITE ACCESS
Turn-off to Poverty Point is 13km south of Rainbow Beach off Rainbow Beach Road. The camping area is a further 6.3km from the turn-off on a 4WD-only track.
Cooloola lies between the coastal towns of Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach.
Noosa Heads is about 155km (about a 3hr drive) and Rainbow Beach is about 240km (about a 3hr drive) north of Brisbane.

Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Advance bookings required for holiday periods including long weekends and public holidays.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free. Read more about CAMPING COSTS & BOOKINGS.

FACILITIES
QPWS-provided fire ring. No other facilities.

RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
