Teewah Beach camping area offers beach camping without formally defined sites. It is a great place to go for great adventures. The beach camping area can be reached by 4WD only. Vehicle access permits are required to access this camping area. Campers can access campsites via formed tracks only. Vehicles, tents, and camping equipment are not permitted on the foredunes for area protection.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites. Only use existing access tracks and camp behind vegetated foredunes.
Suitable for: Tent camping beside a vehicle, walk-in camping, off-road caravans and camper trailers with high clearance.
Surface: Sand and/or grass.
SITE ACCESS
Cooloola lies between the coastal towns of Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach. Noosa Heads is about 155km (about a 3hr drive) and Rainbow Beach is about 240km (about a 3hr drive) north of Brisbane.
Two-wheel-drive (2WD) access
Conventional or 2WD vehicles can access Elanda Point, just north of Boreen Point, and Bymien picnic area from Rainbow Beach Road. For Bymien, turn off 4km south of Rainbow Beach, onto 3km of unsealed road. The 16km sand road from Bymien to Freshwater camping and day-use areas, and beyond to Teewah Beach, is 4WD only. Inland tracks are not suitable for caravans. Camper trailers must have good clearance.
Four-wheel-drive (4WD) access
Cooloola’s sand tracks are rough, and are suitable for high clearance 4WD vehicles only. All vehicles must be registered and have a valid Great Sandy National Park vehicle access permit (VAP) displayed on their windscreen when traversing designated tracks and beach areas.
The camp site is along Teewah Beach in a 15km zone between the Sunshine Coast Regional Council boundary and Little Freshwater Creek, 20km north of 3rd cutting on the Noosa North Shore.
Please note: GPS Co-Ordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Advance bookings required for holiday periods including long weekends and public holidays.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
Bulk rubbish bins. Campers should bring a portable toilet for hygiene reasons. The nearest toilets are located at Freshwater day-use area (just north of Teewah Beach camping zone). Located opposite Freshwater day-use area is a QPWS beach camper service facility that offers a portable toilet waste disposal facility, untreated tap water and cold outdoor showers
RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
