Yorke Peninsula Council has designated 19 different sites on the Peninsula as bush campgrounds. Campsites are found in secluded bush and mallee areas overlooking the ocean. Most have a stunning long white sandy beach within walking distance of your camp. Access to campgrounds is via gravel roads, accessible by conventional vehicles with care.
Gleesons Landing is located on the West Coast of the foot on Wurlie Road, 19 kilometers southwest of Corny Point – access off Corny Point to Marion Bay Road. This camping ground is a good location for snorkeling and there is often garfish and squid off the rocks. Surfers are also welcome as it is close to surf beaches.
It is BYO water and firewood. The water pump is available for bathing and washing but not fit for drinking. There is no mobile reception but with little shade and toilet facilities available. This site would be best suited for conventional vehicles, but a four-wheel drive will be needed to access the beach boat ramp.
A permit is needed for each vehicle staying at these campgrounds. The permit is transferable between all 19 sites, allowing you to move around the Peninsula and experience spectacular coastlines and magnificent beaches.
